@UBotMate That's exactly how it is. It's why I avoid even criticising elements of my life to people because they see it as a call for help from my own identity where the only solution is making me more like them. Everyone wants the people and life around them to progress, you're allowed to do that without hating and dissociating from your identity but people lack the capacity to look at you with nuance.

@HijabaDabbaDoo I would be so annoyed that I'd stick to social media within my own country at that point, omg. I experience this a little bit when I talk about living in Ukraine (as a non-Ukrainian), so I can only imagine what it's like for you. 😬

I guess from an introspective point of acknowledging my own ignorance a bit, I do typically try to avoid looking at a woman in a hijab but probably wouldn't if she wasn't wearing it. Several notes to add onto that statement though.
1) I don't mean gawking or checking them out just normal eye contact and awareness of the people around you.
2) I don't know them because if I did it would make no difference to me either way and I'd probably take the opportunity to ask about it and learn about the culture (again my own ignorance).
3) I don't treat anyone differently otherwise and don't think I fit in your category because I feel like the hijab means I shouldn't be looking lol
Anyways tldr; it's messed up even making it a thing to treat someone differently based on how they dress.

@HijabaDabbaDoo 🤔how you dress is your business and this should not make people judgemental of this and treat you in a more civil manner by the ay you dress

A compliment?
You're the same person...

@ScreamingFox you'd be surprised by the difference in how people treat you

How tf do they think this is a compliment
SwampFlower · 31-35, F
@HijabaDabbaDoo I mean I’ve heard that logic before but it still makes no damn sense like they think it does.

@HijabaDabbaDoo THAT'S SUCH A HORRIBLE THING TO SAY
