if you have mental problems are you tarnished in society

i have had long term mental problems unfortunately and there's times i feel tarnished...like my good name is blackened......what do you think of this? if you have mental issues too, do you feel tarnished? or is this something i'm probably imagining?

my elderly parents think i do well in spite of the mental struggles i have, i think i do too, but at times i feel a bit paranoid.

I think that is only if you aren't getting or have gotten help in the form of professional help, or you aren't taking personal accountability for yourself.

Having mental health issues isn't a stigma, nor should it be. But so many people still think it is and refuse to get real help and let others suffer with them.

I have CPTSD and anxiety. I take meds. I take accountability when my mental health makes me do things that are not acceptable. I work to remove as many of the triggers that I can to make sure that I don't have episodes. I don't ask others to just accept that I have mental health issues and allow me to do whatever I want.

Having mental health issues means you have to work harder to make sure you are behaving in the ways you want. Yeah, it's challenging which is why there are resources like drs and medicines to help.

But if you are doing all those things and working to live your best life, well, that's all everyone is trying to do. It doesn't tarnish you at all.
