This is true. Narcissists can go to work on people to destroy their reputation and alienate others to be against the by spreading lies about them. They do it in order to get some type of sense of power over others or as revenge if these people didn’t acquiesce to their demands.

I have had this happen to me.. People spreading lies and others just accepting them as truth without ever doing the basic thing of getting the other persons side of the story..

Maybe they just aren’t worth the effort of explanation. My best friends will still love me even if I’m wrong

Well, that's what happens when you get divorced. The ex can say whatever the hell he wants, and because I don't see any of those people anymore, I can't set the record straight...nor would I care to...chiefly because I no longer care about any of them.

I heard your side of the story is worse, so maybe stick with their version 😬
ah well.. thems the breaks

Eh probably less now than what it used to be

Psychologically, it’s easier to dislike something than to like it. If you’re faced with a choice, it’s usually easier to choose the defense option, even if it has a negative outcome.

Oh well. Nothing new about it

That's their problem
