How Couples Met

[media=https://youtu.be/ArlY8EKc8Vw?t=2]
A two-minute video timeline comparing the different ways couples met, from 1930 to 2024.

The most interesting part to me is the rapid rise of couples meeting online in the 21st century. That’s not too surprising, but the percentage of couples meeting this way today is astounding, nonetheless.

The creator of the video cites research from Stanford University and national surveys as the main sources of data.

Also, the music used in the video (“Funky Disco”) is pretty good.

Wow. Cool to see the data shift. I was surprised how many couples met as coworkers. I never dated anyone I worked with - too complicated. 😄 Don’t sh!t where you eat. (Gross, I know. I don’t like the crudeness of the saying, but I agree with it.)

@ChampagneOnIce Same. Can't imagine dating someone I work with.

@ChampagneOnIce In my case, the relationships were either with people who worked in other departments, or people I only started dating after they moved on to other places of employment.
