I don't believe the "control" fear, at least not in a democratic nation though I would not like to speak for the Russian and Chinas and Saudi Arabias of the world.
To a large extent we are at least half-way there, with a lot of people not using cash because they seem too think it not necessary, or at least limiting their cash use to small purchases, donations and the like.
What I do see as the real problem is the huge rise in unofficial "cryptocurrencies" that don't appear to have any real-world use but are traded in themselves. Rather than heading them off by a sort of competition these unofficial, bogus currencies should be shut down, world-wide. It would help the fight against climate-change and greedy demands on public electricity supplies too, because the servers dedicated to them are probably the largest single users of electricity devised, but for no constructive purpose.

The CBDC, in conjunction with the social credit system could easily be used to enslave humanity. The surveillance state is here...what we say and do is being monitored. If the state determined you are out of line, your ability to use funds can be restricted. They could also punish your family members based on your behavior.

Is there anything you are not afraid of?

@Zeusdelight Not afraid. Just very sad, that so many people, like yourself, have an unshakeable belief in the GOODNESS OF MEN, the benevolence of those who hold positions of authority over us and who are accountable to nobody.
For you, all the innovations pushed by these "leaders" are only FOR OUR GOOD. And for our safety, of course.
You happily deny any negative possibilities present in these initiatives, which are going forward at full speed in the background without consultation with the people.
Good luck for your happy future under their rule.
