Today? Not much, other than taxes, donations, and occasional volunteer work. But I did help raise two generations of kids into successful, self-sufficient adults. Helped grow a non-profit health care provider focused on delivering affordable, quality health care. Mentored a few employees.

@dancingtongue If everyone raised responsible self-sufficient children many of our social woes could be resolved or lessened greatly. Stronger families build a stronger society.

@cherokeepatti I agree. Otoh, the ability to do so can vary greatly given circumstances: single parents, having to work multiple low paying jobs to provide a roof and food, bad schools and neighborhoods but all you can afford, etc. As the pandemic demonstrated, and I can attest to having been bedridden for four years and homeschooled by my mother who WAS a teacher, homeschooling and remote learning are not as complete or good as being in a decent classroom with others. It does truly take a village, although the parents are primary in that village.
