Madison Marsh, US Air Force officer crowned as 2024 Miss America

While I don't pay too much attention to these types of pageants, I am thankful that it was an actual woman that won the title of Miss America.

Congratulations Madison and thank you for your service.

So you congratulate a woman serving in the military on winning a beauty pageant, but would you thank a trans woman for her service in the military?
IM5688 · 61-69, M
@Richard65 Honestly, No.
Richard65 · M
@IM5688 so you're a complete hypocrite. You'd thank a woman for her service and for keeping you safe, but you wouldn't thank a trans woman for doing exactly the same thing. At least you're honest about what an awful person you are.
IM5688 · 61-69, M
@Richard65 It's not that I'm an awful person. I don't believe that trans people belong in military service at all. Sorry, but that's my opinion.
Richard65 · M
@IM5688 I've read some of your other posts. If you're not an awful person, then let's say you certainly hold some bigoted views. A trans person is doing just as much in the military to serve their country and keep you safe. Yet you can't look beyond your bigotry to simply say thank you to them, just because they are trans? They are serving their country, they deserve your respect. If the military accepts them, then your refusal is an insult to the entire US military.

@IM5688
I don't believe that trans people belong in military service at all.
Is this just a personal foible or do you have an objective reason for why trans people should not fight for their country?
MarineBob · 56-60, M
@IM5688 @Richard65 personally I feel she should resign her commission and pay the taxpayers back for her training
IM5688 · 61-69, M
@MarineBob Resign their commission or be generally discharged, Yes.
Paying the taxpayers back, No, because it was the branch of service they enlisted in that accepted them in the first place.
IM5688 · 61-69, M
@ninalanyon I do have an objective reason, but it would not be a reason that you'd accept or agree with.
Richard65 · M
@IM5688 fair enough. You make your own choices.
ninalanyon · 61-69, T
@IM5688 Surely only I can decide what I accept or agree with? Or are you claiming to be a long distance mind reader too?
IM5688 · 61-69, M
@ninalanyon Mind reader? No, not at all, but I have stated my reasons before and none of you T's agreed with or accepted my reasoning. I don't have to be a mind reader to know that you won't agree with or accept my reasoning, and I'm not looking to argue to defend my reasons.
IM5688 · 61-69, M
@Richard65 It's not bigotry. IMO, a trans person doesn't belong in the service.
Richard65 · M
@IM5688 it is the definition of bigotry. You can't rewrite the dictionary.
IM5688 · 61-69, M
@Richard65 Although I do not agree with transgenderism, I know it is part of our world today. I do not hate them, nor do I wish any harm on them. They do have a right to be who they are, but that doesn't mean I have to accept their mindset if I believe they are wrong. I accept them in the real world, but I will not support their ideology.
Richard65 · M
@IM5688 you wish ideally to limit their freedom by denying them the right to serve their country, just because they're trans. You can dress it up any way you like, but that's pure bigotry.
IM5688 · 61-69, M
@Richard65 They can do anything they like, work at anything they like, believe anything they like, but they should not be allowed in the military or in political office. If that makes me a bigot, so be it.
Richard65 · M
@IM5688 yes, you're definitely a bigot. It's a shame you waste your life denying others the right to live their own.
IM5688 · 61-69, M
@Richard65 I am not denying anyone their right to live. They can live however way they want as whoever they want, but I do not have to accept or agree with their life choices.
Richard65 · M
@IM5688 no, you said they shouldn't be allowed to serve in the military or political office in your opinion. That's you denying them the right to live their lives because of your bigotry. You're not just quietly accepting their choices, you'd prefer to deny them their choices of a career in the military or politics. That's what you mean. You seem to have difficulty actually understanding the meaning of your own statements.
IM5688 · 61-69, M
@Richard65 Okay, realistically speaking, anyone who is born a male and wants to be changed into or believes that they are a woman or any who is born as a female and wants to be changed into a male, has some form of mental illness and is not normal.
If you are okay with people who have this mental illness defend you, fighting on a battlefield with you, or running your country, that's fine. I would choose otherwise.
Would you have a problem with an entire crew of Rachel Levine's running our Navy? Would you have a problem with people like Sam Brinton running our country?
As I stated, If you are okay with the people who have this mental illness that's fine, but I would choose otherwise.
Richard65 · M
@IM5688 that makes you a bigot. We already clarified that. Thank you for your honesty.
IM5688 · 61-69, M
@Richard65
Bigot: a person who is obstinately or unreasonably attached to a belief, opinion, or faction, especially one who is prejudiced against or antagonistic toward a person or people on the basis of their membership of a particular group.
We are all bigots in one way or another. Do you have a problem with transgender males on female sports teams or using female rest rooms? If so, then you also are a bigot. Transgenderism, is a mental illness and should treated as such, not accepted as norm. Would you hire a mentally ill person as a babysitter? You make me out to be no better than Archie Bunker, but I am not that way. A person is either born a male or a female there is no in between. Anyone who wishes to choose a different gender rather than accept the gender they are born as, has a mental problem.
ninalanyon · 61-69, T
@IM5688 You were doing fine until got to: Transgenderism, is a mental illness and should treated as such,
Richard65 · M
@IM5688 so you're a bigot, why keep repeating the fact?
IM5688 · 61-69, M
@Richard65 The point I was making was we are all bigots in one way or another.
