How an uncanny thing called covid destroyed our lives

The years of living with increasingly oppressive Covid restrictions and mandates is a tale of many villains complicit in tyranny and a few heroes of resistance. It’s a story of venal, incompetent politicians and brutish police – thugs in uniform – acting at the behest of power-drunk apparatchiks.

Medically idiotic, economically ruinous, socially disruptive and embittering, culturally dystopian, politically despotic: what was there to like in the Covid era?

Billions, if you were Big Pharma.

Unchecked power, if you were Big State.

Power over the whole population of a state and fame with extended daily TV appearances on all channels, if you were a chief medical officer.

More money and power over the world’s governments and people for the WHO.

Template for action for climate zealots.

Dreamtime for cops given free rein to indulge their inner bully.

But anguished despair, if you were a caring, concerned citizen who loves individual freedom and autonomy.

But if you think it was all justified and good, then you have been taken in hook, line and sinker.

Aren't you sick of conspiracy theories people? So boring and stupid.
WalterF · 70-79, M
@JimboSaturn Of course - you're quite right. It's so comforting to believe that those above us, along with those above them, have our best interests at heart, and will always put selflessness before the chance to make billions.

I mean, who would ever seek more money, when instead he can devote all his time and energy to helping Joe Public? Stupid idea!

@WalterF Or you can just believe in the facts.
WalterF · 70-79, M
@JimboSaturn To "believe in the facts" means that you swallow, uncritically, the info that the media and the so-called "fact-checkers" bludgeon you with, 24/7.

It seems to me a better way to listen to both sides: the above, on the one hand, AND the countless scientists, experts, thinkers, observers, analysts, who present a totally different side of the story.

It all depends if you are a medium-message absorber, or a curious, independent spirit.

I have NEVER been a meek follower of received "truth".

@WalterF WTF? so opinions hold as much weight as facts do for you? Just because you follow the facts doesn't mean you are uncritical, you are just using the process of logic to come to your conclusions. Logic has toppled all of these conspiracies and fact have destroyed opinions. You are the one who swallows uncritically some nonsense you see on the internet and fall into a rabbit hole.

@JimboSaturn Your reply was what I expected.

So, please keep taking the magic covid boosters, all "safe and effective," as they told us. Keep believing in America's Doctor, and humanity's selfless benefactor Gates. They seek your good! Rest assured in that knowledge.

I wish you well.

@WalterF Same to you, don't believe anyone with facts and get your information for crazy websites, enjoy your reality.
