How an uncanny thing called covid destroyed our lives

The years of living with increasingly oppressive Covid restrictions and mandates is a tale of many villains complicit in tyranny and a few heroes of resistance. It’s a story of venal, incompetent politicians and brutish police – thugs in uniform – acting at the behest of power-drunk apparatchiks.

Medically idiotic, economically ruinous, socially disruptive and embittering, culturally dystopian, politically despotic: what was there to like in the Covid era?

Billions, if you were Big Pharma.

Unchecked power, if you were Big State.

Power over the whole population of a state and fame with extended daily TV appearances on all channels, if you were a chief medical officer.

More money and power over the world’s governments and people for the WHO.

Template for action for climate zealots.

Dreamtime for cops given free rein to indulge their inner bully.

But anguished despair, if you were a caring, concerned citizen who loves individual freedom and autonomy.

But if you think it was all justified and good, then you have been taken in hook, line and sinker.

It didn't destroy mine. I still rode my trails, exercised, lived, etc.. As did family and everyone I know. I was aware of the state of affairs, as I do pay attention. I've never injected myself with anything, ever.
Such a fiasco, all of it. But it was a real thing, I had it and many others did as well.

It did change the world, sadly.

What purpose does it serve to post such virtue signaling posts, if one isn't doing anything to create actual change?

@Magenta My apologies for not changing the world. I am somewhat limited, having zero clout or influence.

How on earth can you call this post "virtue-signalling?" Do you have a handy pejorative adjective at the ready for everything that doesn't meet your standards?
Magenta · F
@WalterF Well perhaps it isn't specifically virtue signaling, but I have witnessed so much of that here, especially by a few, one in particular. ✨
WalterF · 70-79, M
@Magenta Nonetheless it is true, UNLESS of course (like one of the commenters here) you consistently believe in the goodness and genuineness and humanity of all in high office both in government and industry, and refuse to accept that money and power can motivate most men to put their desires first and walk over those under them.

Men are not good by nature. We should all have learned that.
Magenta · F
@WalterF Never said I believe that, nor do I. I am quite aware of what humans are and aren't..

AMEN to that !
