I need emotional support rather than financial

My parents provide me financial support and I'm grateful for that but that has only kept me dependent on them.

I'm sure they have wanted to see me independent for a long time but I just haven't been able to become it. I want to become independent for my sake and theirs.

I just don't know how to communicate to them that I need more emotional support/encouragement than financial.

Dude, you should not be living off your parents- I come from a family (especially my wife's family do this) where we always help each other financially to the best we can if one of us is in need.

Difference is we all work and would only give support if one of us lost a job, etc.

Be an adult and start applying for a job.
