Please tell Buck Angel that he's a woman because he was born female.

@LeopoldBloom I think we all know that. I also forgot who he was.
LeopoldBloom ยท M
@xSiFiGamer2016x It's not like he's famous. I just did a search for images of trans men and his came up.

So you think he's a woman? Although I notice that most transphobia is directed at trans women, not trans men. It's the same patriarchal bullshit that directs more hatred at gay men than at lesbians, because nobody cares what those silly women do. If they want to have sex with each other or pretend they're men, so what. But god forbid two men fall in love or a man wants to be a woman, we can't allow that.

@LeopoldBloom That's a fair point. I wouldn't want to think hard on that, they can do whatever they want. It won't affect my life, I won't have a part of it. And to answer the first question, it's known that this guy was a woman at first. Just decided to become male.

@LeopoldBloom Buck is a bad example because he strongly asserts that he was, and remains, a woman. His Twitter bio is literally 'female who lives as a man'.

You can 'live as' or 'present as' a man while being born female, but the only way to be a man is to be born male.

I think there should be more freedom and acceptance for anyone to dress or 'be' however they are comfortable without needing to claim to be an alternative gender. I know lesbians who present as typically male, they would laugh at the thought of their relationship being seen as 'straight' because one of them has masculine dress sense.

If gender dysphoria is a mental condition I don't see why the treatment for it needs to be physical in the case of surgical or medical transition... like telling a schizophrenic that the voices in their head are real, or an anorexic that they could lose a few lbs.

@Emele I used Buck as an example as most anti-trans bigots would be horrified if he showed up in the ladies room next to their wife or daughter. Maybe Elliott Page is a better example since he self-identifies as male.

Gender dysphoria is a real condition, and surgery is one treatment. Right wingers like Ron DeSantis are using the discomfort many people feel toward trans women to push an anti-trans agenda, starting with outlawing gender care for minors (even though gender surgery on minors is almost unheard of), to outlawing all trans care for adults as was just proposed in Louisiana. The goal here is to obliterate trans people, and if you don't see that, you're very naive. They are already demonizing anyone who expresses support for LGBT as a "groomer."

I prefer to leave it to the doctors and other professionals who have studied this condition to determine the best course of treatment, rather than bigoted politicians or my own gut feelings as a layman. Denying medical care to people who need it when it is available is evil and should be treated as a crime against humanity.

@LeopoldBloom I'm pretty sure that the wife or daughter would be horrified by it too
LeopoldBloom ยท M
@MartinTheFirst So he should use the men's room. And trans women should use the ladies room. But the fascists want bathroom genital inspectors.
MartinTheFirst ยท 26-30, M
@LeopoldBloom personally I've always been in favour of getting a "trans" room.
LeopoldBloom ยท M
@MartinTheFirst How about just letting people use the public restroom they feel the most comfortable in? There aren't enough trans people to justify the expense of remodeling every public toilet.
MartinTheFirst ยท 26-30, M
@LeopoldBloom Uhm, no?
LeopoldBloom ยท M
@MartinTheFirst They're like, what, 1% of the population? Republicans are just using them as a convenient scapegoat to get their base worked up. They lost the gay marriage issue, so they're focusing on oppressing trans people, a small and harmless minority.

It's basically the Nazi playbook - pick a small, harmless group that's easily identified, blame all of society's problems on them, oppress them in the name of "protecting the children," and demonize anyone who expresses support. The Nazis went after Jews; the Republicans are going after trans. We have to nip this in the bud to avoid disaster.
