And also take all the risks of failure?

@Heartlander A "classless society" is almost certainly a tyranny, because there will be no class structures and groups (such as unions) to defend you and your interests. A stateless society will necessarily be totalitarian, there's no court you could go to, no laws to safeguard your human rights. In "1984", there are no longer any laws.

@helenS Every man for him/herself at every level. It supposedly happened in some island or remote societies, until they get discovered, and with no structure they have no collective defense.

@helenS When it comes to stateless I agree but heavily disagree on the classless point you are making

@Gloomy People tend to see classes as something that's oppressive, and unfair. But please keep in mind that, as a member of a class, you are not alone. You are not isolated. There are many more like you, and you can unite to fight for your interests – which is exactly what people do. Try that in a classless society.

@Gloomy PS Jewish philosopher Hannah Arendt has written at length about it, emphasizing that classes are the most important social entities which prevent totalitarianism from taking over. Conversely, the first thing the totalitarians will do is destroying the class structure of society.

@helenS Marx even had this concept with the Bourgeois being aware of it's shared class interest and the proletariat not being aware of their shared situation.

Classless not in the sense that millieus disappear but in the sense that neither desperately poor people nor outrageously wealthy people exist who buy luxury goods just so they can differenciate themselves from working people.
Also in the sense that there is no class antagonism anymore because the system prevents exploitation.

@helenS Arendt was a vile and selfish individual all her writing has been influenced by the trauma she suffered under a dictatorship and it made her an awful person. Libertarianism has terrible consequences.

@Gloomy In a sense, the "proletariat" as defined by Marx is classless: atomized individuals which have to sell body and soul to the factory where they are employed.

Are you sure you don't confuse her with Ayn Rand?
Gloomy · F
@helenS Yes I did sorry
