Then it sounds like there are many who are living by someone else's standards. Short of murder, stealing, and the harming of children, I believe one should be able to live life on their own terms.

No, that would have been assault, we have laws against that sort of thing.

@calicuz so as long as it its within the laws it would be allowed? but aren't laws just inhibitions that most people agreed upon?

No my friend, inhibitions come from within. It's a self-restraint put on by one's self. Sometimes one can refrain from doing something based on a social stigma, but it is still the individual that prevents him or herself from engaging in that particular thing.

Yes, but we don't need a law to tell us that murder is wrong, mankind already knows this, so the law is in place to punish those who commit murder.
