What are your thoughts on small time landlords?

Some of them neglect to educate themselves about the laws regarding rental properties,
They don't realize the rights and responsibilities for both tenants, and themselves.

Entrepreneurial, respectable.

Good for them. just don't become a slum lord!

If you decide to be one, you'd better watch out who your tenants are and take time to make a good contract with deposit etc.
I wish my parents did that years ago so now I could buy the place from them for a reasonable price but they were never cut out for this.

That’s a smart move, as @chrisCA said there’s lots to know/learn and most don’t.

These questions as so strange to me. Because whenever someone asks me a question like this I just answer it how you originally described them

“a regular person that saved up for a duplex to hemp build their wealth”

I don’t have any other thoughts about them I don’t personally know them as a person

I admire them

I've heard night tenant stories from friends.

Can be risky if you get crap tennants.
