Gender is what you identify as. Sex like male and female is what you are born as.

@Spoiledbrat no gender is how you are genetically configured from conception by DNA and the sex you are at birth. You are either male or female. Doubtful if any humans are hermaphroditic like snails.

@zonavar68 Gender is one identifies. Sex is physical appearance.

@Spoiledbrat Gender is what a person is born as - either male or female. Unless genetics goes wrong (and it will due to effects of Covid mrna drugs on human physiology), there's not any other in-betweens. The 'sex' of a person is their gender. New parents don't ask 'what gender is our baby' They ask 'what sex is our baby' either boy or girl, with boy or girl bits. What happens later is all in the mind.
How one identifies might be different than how they appear physically. I was taught this in college. @zonavar68

@Spoiledbrat Agree there - but gender = sex at birth. Otherwise we would be stating that newborn babies be they M or F are already gender-queer in the LGBTIQ+ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWSXYZ 'spectrum' from before birth and that in-the-womb experiences are what determine a newborns sexual identity and whether a child can be predicted to be LGBTIQA+.

I have a child who is non-binary (born girl, decided about 15 she didn't want to be a she and identifies now as a he). My 5 y/o doesn't appear to be questioning in any way that she's a girl and she knows all the exterior physical differences between boys and girls even before she started 'big school' a few weeks ago.
The article states that gender is how a person identifies. It's a little different than sex. @zonavar68

@Spoiledbrat I identify as a banana.
@zonavar68 I can't pretend to know what they're going through. I just know what I read and try to keep an open mind.
