Let's say you are a superhero and unfortunately you give your girlfriend less and less attention because you need to fight all of the time. You guys had a good relationship but it started falling apart once you became a superhero. She says that she's leaving you unless you quit being a superhero. But if you quit you'd only be putting more burdens and responsibilities on your superhero friends.
However the idea of someone choosing to be true to themselves or sacrifice that for their partner's comfort seems to happen to some people. I personally value personal integrity and some minor forms of self sacrificing behavior but think ultimately people need to be true to themselves or they will be miserable. and Happiness and being yourself is important. People have to choose what is right for themselves. So being true to yourself probably wins out in the end. It can feel a little tragic when Love isn't enough to make a.relationship work. But hopefully in the long-run it's better if everyone can be true to themselves? Hopefully? Maybe? Idk.
I think the most important thing we can learn from superheroes is that they're flawed. You can be a hero to one person while being someone else's villain. Everybody believes that they're right, and it's only by experiencing things that make us question our beliefs that we can learn to overcome certain flaws
