Only women, kids, and dogs are loved unconditionally?

Chris rock made a video saying that only women, dogs, and babies are loved unconditionally while men must be strong and fight for love and affection.

Women get abused everyday. Sometimes kids are tortured and killed. Often kids are forced to grow up too fast. These are facts of life so why does Chris rock say these things don't exist?

There's an element of truth to what he's saying. In a traditional romance setting, it's the man's job to approach the woman, pay for dates, and initiate all advances, whereas the woman's job is to exist and go along with it. There are always more men asking a woman to date them than they can accept. Men date who they can, women date who they want. In a traditional family, it's the parents' job to take care of the kids and the kids just have to accept that care and grow.

Men are very privileged in a lot of ways, but honestly that feeling of being super replaceable, and having to compensate for my lack of intrinsic desirability with work, social standing, and material support does feel pretty awful. I know it's wrong, but deep down I do feel that twinge of jealousy of women for being able to attract a man off of looks and sex appeal alone, despite the costs of that ability. The grass is always greener and all.

None of that's to downplay the whole torture and death of women & children. Those are incredibly horrific evils which must be resisted in every way possible.

@BlueVeins that thing about the traditional approach, it might be true, if it exists at all. I mean as a woman in order to have anyone you want you must be extremely attractive. Personally I have never seen that happening and I do know beautiful women. But the traditional setting is not even followed by people who claim to be traditional. Like men may start off with effort to approach a woman, but they don't continue with such force. That's because they definitely are waiting for something in return- which is logical. But yeah, the being able to attract thousands just by looks, like in that film Malena where she just puts a cigarette in her mouth and many men offer their lighter, I'd say it only happens on the internet where it all seems distorted anyway.

@HannibalAteMeOut It actually does exist in full force. BlueVeins is right (and him and I disagree on alot), so my calling him right is rare. Evolutionary Psychology. Women are attracted to men with status, means to provide, etc. Men are attracted to the womanly features that signify fertility for best chance of producing healthy children (booty, hips, breasts, great skin). Overall a decent looking women can just sit around with her looks while the guy needs to get his act together and put in all the actual effort. Not exactly fair, but thousands of years of evolution. Me? I love those rare women who take charge and make the first move. Wish there were more of them.

@ShadowWolf so it's just about the first move? Sure, I agree men make most of them. But "unconditional love" means something else. Not just approaching somebody attractive. Even if you approach a decent looking woman and she says something that doesn't sit right with you or picks her nose for example, chances are you will not proceed. So it's definitely more than just looks.

@HannibalAteMeOut Personally I wouldn't take someone on looks alone.
Very silly mate selection strategy. no like truly. Must be left leaning, smart, somewhat outspoken. I don't give a shit how pretty a conservative is, I'll pass.

Lean into Your Empathy- that'll win me over.

I've got no issue telling Tomi Lahren yeah your problem is no one really wants to date a republican

Because Tomi only pretty on the outside, inside she's hideous.

@HannibalAteMeOut No it's regarding everything. Men need to put the effort in constantly to maintain that status, that ability to provide etc, or the woman may consider ditching him. Once a woman's looks start to fade, quite a few men have wandering eyes. It's our own evolutionary psych. thousands of years. Also, women are far more fickle than men. We can overlook alot as long as the woman has good looks. God knows I have. So a little nose pick won't put me off unless she's legit digging for gold furiously. Women however, will often nitpick and psychoanalyze EVERYTHING a man says. And will write him off for anything that doesn't sit well. Women have it easy. When it comes to dating. Until they hit 35.

@ShadowWolf I meant what I said myself. I don't give a fuck how pretty a woman is if she's a republican I'm not interested.
ShadowWolf · 31-35, M
@PDXNative1986 I wasn't exactly replying to you.... and what you are saying is a bias in itself. That limits your pool by roughly 50% in the USA. I would have no issues dating a liberal girl as long as she respected my views as a libertarian. And I'd have no issues dating a Tomi Laheren type either. I don't base my interactions on political views with women.
PDXNative1986 · 36-40, MVIP
@ShadowWolf Ohh 50%?

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Not sure, if it's actually that high. Since most people don't even bother to vote.

yes, actually republicans are that insufferable. for real.
ShadowWolf · 31-35, M
@PDXNative1986 It's a rough percentage. The country is pretty well split down the middle. Not including indies, green party, or libertarians. You also overestimate the amount of country that are liberal. Many do not vote either. In any case, this was not a political thread. I've had a few women who were very into me who when they found out I wasn't liberal outright canceled dates. I think that is an incredibly stupid reason to write a person off.
PDXNative1986 · 36-40, MVIP
@ShadowWolf You underestimate the degree to which I hate republicans though.
ShadowWolf · 31-35, M
@PDXNative1986 That hate, is intolerance. And liberals are supposed to be the party of tolerance right? Seems like a contradiction to me. I'm a libertarian, so some of my social views align with liberals, such as pro choice. But I've NEVER been written off by a conservative girl for being pro choice. But I have been written off by liberal girls, by being pro fossil fuel, or anti-taxation.

Seems like conservative girls are more tolerant *shrug*
