We surely all agree that the internet is not an accurate reflection of society

Take Christians. Online they are all anger and judgment. The Christian’s I have met face to face are good people, who strive to alleviate pain, empower goodness and encourage community unity. All that without a single meme.

And this is true of other groups and demographics. The internet is like a negativity amplifier. We are not this ugly.

Overall I think you are right, about whatever group. You mentioned Christians so I'll mention atheists: the ones I know are lovely people, but if I just knew about atheism from online "discussions" I would think they were mostly highly aggressive and intolerant.

I'm not sure why this amplification of negativity happens but you are wise to look beyond it!
