If you were homeless which would you choose?

Let's say you are 18 and homeless. Despite this you were a great student in high school and was able to a full ride scholarship into a prestigious University filled with rich kids. You have two options

1. Go to the prestigious University but you'll still be homeless surrounded by the rich but you might be able to get a much higher paying job once you finish school.

2. Stay in your home town. You'll still be homeless, but everything is less expensive and you'll get a normal paying job after you finish school and you'll get more food stamps. Plus you'll be surrounded with normal or poor people like yourself

Wouldn't the estimated extra $$$ with a degree from a selective university be eaten up by the extra cost of attending that university.

If a prestigious school cost $25K more a year, that's $100,000 more for 4 years. Not considering the taxes and interest if the $$ was borrowed, with a salary of $10,000 more a year, it would take 10+ years to make up for the additional tuition cost.
