21 people die trapped in vehicles after heavy snowfall in Pakistan’s Murree .

Pakistan's popular hill station Murree was declared a calamity-hit area on Saturday after at least 21 people, including nine children, froze to death in their stranded vehicles due to unprecedented snowfall and rush of tourists to the picturesque town in Punjab province

But but but global warming and stuff. The Greenland glaciers are moving to Pakistan? So very sad that people died from cold.

It would be like traveling up to parts of the Canadian Rockies near Calgary without good road conditions, snow chains, cell coverage, extra food and blankets and no Mounties to come to your rescue.

It's sad. But even here in North America people do stupid things without making contingency plans.

@beckyromero I grew up in a time there was no cell phones and the roads were all gravel and the temperature would be -40 for weeks on end. Our neighbor had an interesting experience. One night it was bitterly cold and windy with snow when his dog started barking and running out into the field. Curious the neighbor started his tractor and followed the dog. About 100 yards out he came across the body of a young woman lightly dressed. He jumped out and got her into the warm cab where through chattering teeth she told him that her mom was farther out. He continued along and came across the mother's body. She was too stiff to get into the cab so he carried her back on the front end loader of his tractor. He got them in the house and his wife stripped their clothes off and put them into a warm bath. The women screamed in pain as the frost came out of their limbs. The next day the ambulance came to pick them up. The roads were impassible. Both women survived but one lost a foot and the other a couple of toes. They left Calgary in warm chinook winds and headed North East and hit the ditch in white out conditions. After a couple of hours they decided to walk to the farm whose light they could see across the field. Their lack of preparedness nearly killed them.

Good thing the dog alerted your neighbor or they wouldn't have survived.
