I need to tell this story. I FEEL LIKE MEN LOVE TO PICK on ME.

On this site I met a guy that acted nice and supportive when I told him that men online expect me to show myself when I’m uncomfortable. He agreed with me about not giving them anything that you don’t want. After a few days he gives me his number and email and Instagram saying he doesn’t like to chat with friends on SW. I wasn’t really comfortable with any of that because I’ve only known him for a week. Since I knew his Instagram and FB because he gave me that info it made him angry and he said that I’m supposed to add him on Instagram or FB because I saw his which isn’t fair because I didn’t ask him for information. Then he said just because you’re friendly with me doesn’t mean you’re my friend because friends don’t hide their info from each other. Fast forward he blocks me because I’m annoying and secretive. This is the reason why I’m not comfortable friending men online. It doesn’t turn out well. It angers me when I’m just trying to be a friend to these men and they turn me into a villain because they want me to expose my identity which would put me at great risk of being harassed by them and they’re not nice at all. AND in the end I feel that men online TREAT ME THE WORST because I’m KIND HEARTED and I’m SICK of IT.

Unfortunately this kind of behaviour is so common here. People offer their personal information / photos and expect you to do the same. That’s not how it works. You’re entitled to your anonymity, please never forget that. I think it’s really wonderful when someone can meet people here who they are comfortable with sharing that information with, but that doesn’t always happen and usually not so fast.

You did the right thing. I’m sorry you encountered this person.

@WanderingThrough It’s very tricky and rare to find a person you can trust online because they can act like a saint for a year then turn against you without warning.

@SW-User Absolutely! You never truly know. That can happen with anyone though.

It has happened to me. I was friends with a man my fathers age and he seemed trustworthy and kind. After a year he got mad at me for saying I won’t date a man his age so he took my profile pic of me in sunglasses and posted it on his profile. I had to report him. @WanderingThrough

@SW-User Wow, I’m sorry that happened. ❤️ I hope you have enough positivity here to keep you from being discouraged.
