I received 4 "Flubot" scam messages today.

At 4.35 am, 7.31 am, 8.16 am and 8.35 am.
A new scam known as "Flubot" is sending thousands of text messages to Australians as they wait anxiously for updates on COVID tests and vaccination appointments.
Telstra cybersecurity expert Darren Pauli says the aim is to get recipients to download a malicious app.

"It will try to convince you to download the app and from there it will have access to your information and banking credentials."

Not this Tasmanian.

If scammers can dip into my bank account they would be violating federal government laws rather than civilian banking laws.

Like money orders, stealing one purchased at a grocery store or gas station is a civil matter. However, stealing one bought at the Post Office would be considered a federal crime.

Also a plus, although postal moneys cost about 50% more, tracing is free if they get lost in the mail

@Disney ??? Theft is theft, surely, a crimne irrespective of victim, place or value?

@Disney But Scammers not not care about laws.
Remember, a Scam is a dishonest plan for making money
@ArishMell I'm not an attorney, but I see your point.

However I've been led to believe stealing government 'property' the government can decide to take the matters through different venues like their own court system. idk, sounded good to me but I am kind of slow

Remember that guy in Korea stole a government propaganda poster? I wonder if it was a neighbor's poster they wouldn't have cared so much, but it was their poster lol
