How do you discourage disreputable looking potential next door neighbours?

Next door are selling up and some new people have just arrived to look at the place with a view to potentially buying it.

This has caused great alarm for me because they don't look like they'd be a good fit for the neighbourhood.

My nephew insisted that I put on some obnoxious and horrible loud modern music but I don't feel comfortable doing that. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Fairydust · F
If I was them I wouldn’t move in next door to you lol 😂 you sound a delightful Neigbour 😬
hdiddle · 26-30, M
@Fairydust Then she wins.

I think the best course of action would be to encourage her to move out to a more remote place where no neighbors can upset her. Win win
You can determine whether they'd be decent neighbors by observing them look at a house? How? Did they arrive in a pirate ship? Are they carrying machetes?

@GovanDUNNY Everybody is a bad fit to somebody.
GovanDUNNY · M
@jeancolby You cant comprehend can you.
jeancolby · 31-35, F
@GovanDUNNY I can comprehend enough to block a piece of shit like you.

I understand your plight but your post smacks of bigotry . Everyone hopes they get good neighbors , but those people are considering moving next to someone that has already decided they are the wrong sort and is conspiring against them without knowing anything about them . Perhaps if you told them , that would make them look for a “ better neighborhood “.

Start burning your rubbish in the garden, let your pigs out to play, sit in the front garden and wash your hair or feet in a bucket of water, take the tyres off your car, and have it sitting on bricks and leaking too.. That oughta do it😅
@SW-User you forgot putting an outhouse in the back yard with the halfmoon door facing their back door

@saragoodtimes lmao, yesss this is a must have

It's not up to you to "discourage" anyone. As long as they have the means, they have as much right to live there as you do.

Don't complain until after they behave in a disruptive or illegal way

I recommend not judging a book by its cover. Just because someone doesn't dress or speak like you think they should, doesn't mean they are bad people.
LadyJ · F
I have a whole Hells Angel family living next door to me and they are honestly the best neighbours I've ever had
This was your second post, huh? 🤣
angie8819 · 56-60, F
Dont judge a book by its cover. They might best the nicest people ever
Urbanism is marked by a "not in my neighborhood" attitude.

Not that I disagree

To combat that, laws have been put into place to make it really hard to legally discourage new neighbors.

Short of zoning issues, there is little one can do.

We do not own our neighbors property and have no right to infringe on how it is enjoyed.

Feel for you

Nice try, silly troll. Thanks for the laugh!

@DarkHeaven [c=002673]Which Part was nice _ sleeping together or cuddling ?
P.S. _ I have no ill intention. ;-) 🤭 [/c]
@valobasa4ever both, but especially the cuddling. I had been single a long time.

Oh me! I cannot sleep at night.
And when I shut my eyes for sooth ..
I cannot banish from my sight
The vision of her slender youth....

She stands before me like 'tease'
Her naked beauty fair and slim
She smiles upon me and her eyes..
With over fierce desire grow dim.

Slowly she leans to me... I meet
The passion of her gaze anew.
And then her laughter, clear and sweet
Thrills all the hollow silence through..

with the mocking tongue!
lily-sweet and white!
I see her..seductive and untouchable Medusa ...
And ahh! I cannot sleep tonight.

Well you could always move and become a disreputable looking potential neighbour to someone else.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
Well you need to find a way to speak to them privately. Two options. Either tell them you are grateful they are moving in, because you were sick of all the men in cars pulling up out front of their place and the police were trying to work out if they were selling drugs from the house or running a Brothel there. Or Plan B would be to appear anxious to be sure that the new neighbours would be OK with you doing something illegal in your place.😷

Get a good set of binoculars 👀😎🤭🤫
@Montanaman Peep PeeP 😎 ;-) :D

@valobasa4ever turns potential annoyance into a curious hobby 🤔
Adogslife · 61-69, M
Buy the house yourself and rent it out to whom you choose. Barring that, you really don’t have a choice in the matter. Regardless of who moves in, I’d always bring a welcoming gift as a neighbor and introduce myself. The initial gesture will pay off, if needed, in the future.
Dainbramadge · 56-60, M
Park motorcycles in your front yard.
WandererTony · 56-60, M
I suggest you accept change. Change is always for the better. And thank God that they only have accents that you do not like. What if they were nudists ? Your nephew would then have scolded you for playing loud music 😀. Be happy they are what they are.
One way to discourage them would be to go out on your front lawn, pull down your pants, and defecate in front of them while singing The Horst Wessel Song. But then, you probably do that anyway.
Lostpoet · M
Yeah, accept it and make friends with them. You can't pick your neighbors after all and they're not family so you can't just annoy them either.

@emmayoung they look and sound disreputable
Riverman2 · 56-60, M
I would just go out on my back deck and fire a couple rounds off with my 270.
Teslin · M
WOW!! How can you judge someone without even meeting them?? So sad!
Adogslife · 61-69, M
Water always finds its level. You both have choices.
TrunkZ · 56-60, M
obnoxious loud classical music?
Disreputable how? Are you saying they don't dress the way you want them to, or is there something... deeper? Skin deep, perhaps?
MsBellows · 61-69, F
@LordShadowfire bad accents for one thing
@MsBellows Okay. I'm going to assume for the sake of my own sanity that you're trolling here, and not serious.
