This reminds me of an incident from many years ago:

One of my co-workers was on the way home after working a double shift. Down the street from his house, he saw a drunk suspect breaking into a car and ripping the radio out of the dash. Larry stopped (still in uniform) arrested the guy and handcuffed him to a No Parking sign. He then went home and called the station. Said we would find the guy handcuffed to the sign, arrested for B&E auto, and he would write the report in the morning when he came back to work. Sometimes there is no rest for the weary.
