This Parakeet, Kiwi, Is Totally Hooked On Rock Crushing Videos…

When the guys leave in the morning and I’m the only person here she starts making that noise telling me to turn the tv on to Youtube rock crushing videos. I let her watch a couple of them and then want to watch something else and she’ll start up with the noise again. I understand the sounds help her relax but now she’s addicted. She was having anxiety for about 3 months before she calmed down listening to them.

Kind of a cool discovery to figure out that Rock Crushing is her calming safe place, how did you discover this?

@Iwillwait Was watching all kinds of things like factories in India and other countries how they recycle things and make it into new things, or repair trucks or whatever. Was interesting to watch and rock crushing at gravel mines was a You Tube suggestion. Those videos are relaxing to watch and help me fall asleep sometimes too. Here’s a picture of Kiwi, she’s about 10 years old.

As soon as I took her picture she started making that noise like she is singing along with it. Sometimes when she wants to sleep she’ll tuck her head under her wing and make the noise till she goes to sleep if something else is on TV

@cherokeepatti Cute! I had a Parakeet as a child, his name was Harvey, Harvey Wall Banger.

@Iwillwait Didn’t mean to laugh but that’s a funny name.

@cherokeepatti He flew into a lot of walls, so it was fitting.

@Iwillwait Yeah but that’s really hard to witness thinking they could make a fatal crash and die. I saw a robin crash into the window in our sun room. Went out and found it unconscious on the ground. Picked up it and it was barely alive and died in my hands. 😭

@cherokeepatti It was hard to see, he got out of his cage and flew around hitting walls intermittent and we realized he was just excited. That's how he got his his name though.
