I think right now all you can really do is actively dislike any AI videos you come across, and also use the three dots menu on recommendations and select "Not Interested" or "Don't recommend channel" in an attempt to make AI stuff show up in your feed.
The only browser extension I see recommended has a predictably spotty reliability record.
I think the only thing that will work long term is for Google (a company that is very much pro-AI) to voluntarily give YouTube users new optional content filtering options. And maybe the only way they will do that is if enough people consistently dislike individual videos and channels (and report them for not properly tagging their AI uploads, when individuals can spot this).

@Miram yes if you're sharing your account, just make separate accounts for them, so you can better control what YT recommends to you

@ThirstenHowl I use my account for the smart TVs.
Yes, perhaps if I use brand new accounts the algorithm will completely change it

@Miram yes somehow you need to separate everyone's viewing habits, I don't know that creating separate channels would be enough because they can always potentially go up to the profile icon and change to your own channel ... so they really need a separate account to prevent them from doing that

@ThirstenHowl
I have another question.
Is it possible that Youtube somehow can display content based on preferences they have drawn from your conversations in a different app?
My SO gets women that look like me in their feed. Which mofo is spying on us?

@Miram I've never noticed anything like YouTube showing me recommendations based on any activity outside of YouTube (mine always seem to be directly related to any other videos I've already watched), but it does make sense to me that Google could at least use your activity across other Google apps (like search, maps, Gmail) to influence it, perhaps even more so in A) a Chrome browser and/or B) on Android devices.
But from what I can tell, officially, any activity Google my collect data on outside of YouTube would mainly be used to determine what ads to show you. I use an adblocker (uBlock Origin) so maybe that's influencing my own uninteresting Google / YT experience. I'm also using a Firefox browser and using multiple Firefox "containers" to isolate activity (though I'm no longer using the Google Container browser extension, however that is an option you may want to consider, and you can use Firefox on Android too, if you aren't already). Containers would also make easy for you to manage multiple Google accounts for your different family members / homes with smart tvs.
I don't think even on Android Google / YT has any way to monitor what you do inside, say, Telegram though.
You can also potentially visit
https://myactivity.google.com
to fine-tune your Google account settings, to turn off the saving of Web and App activity, or turn auto-delete on, and such, and go also delete all of your YT history to "start over" so to speak if you feel like it would help.
I really can't say why your SO is being shown Asian women, are you sure he hasn't just watched some Asian-themed videos in the past, maybe even just viewing something like the interesting Chinese videos you have shared here on SW at times? If he is okay with parting with it, maybe ask him to either try deleting his YT history, or create a new channel under his account, to start browsing under, so it's a clean slate, to see if the Asian content changes (out of curiosity more than anything).
*******
As an aside about smart tv's, I thusfar don't like using the native YT app because then you have to watch ads, and the volume of the frequent ads may be many decibels louder than the movie or such you are watching, which is extremely annoying ... you might be able to address this with some complicated IP blocking in the router, but I just use an HDMI cable to hook my laptop to the tv long enough to watch a movie in Firefox, while still benefiting from my ad-blocker.
