YouTube is increasingly blocking VPN usage, primarily due to licensing agreements for content (especially TV shows/sports), to prevent cheap subscriptions from other countries, and to enforce regional restrictions, leading to error messages like "VPN/proxy detected" or outright content blockage for users trying to access geo-restricted content or circumvent terms.

Well, their loss. Some new site will pop up that does not block VPNs and steal market share.

Porn sites started blocking me on Chrome through my normal ISP, because a nearby state has age verification and sometimes sites think I am in that state. Maybe the server is there? And someday my state might have age verification, too!

So I got the Opera browser with its free VPN, and am not blocked anymore. So Google Chrome just lost to Opera.

Of course someday Google will buy all those others and kill them, making us use Chrome.

And now Google will lose when people ditch YouTube.

Oh, on Opera I activated the free VPN so if I tried it I expect You Tube would not work.

But Pornhub works! 😁

Addendum:

I just opened Opera on my phone and then went to YouTube (I assume it was still in Opera rather than the YouTube app on my phone!), and it seems to work. But maybe the block is content dependent.
