Gotta love YouTube - my dishwasher was dead. Door wouldn't latch. No power

Did a little googling and some youtubing. Took the front off the dishwasher, examined the latch - figured out it was in the closed position and shouldn't have been, closed it up and hit the power button - and back in business.

I was semi-shopping for a new dishwasher - didn't even need a new door switch :)

Now see, even if you HAD needed a switch, what's a couple bucks? 🙂 But you didn't.
You spent a little time researching, and solved the problem. AND, your wallet stayed "latched".

Had a repairman came out, they would have wanted to replace the entire door which would have cost some ungodly amount, and the expensive service call, so you would have been out probably close to a grand over a machine that originally costed $400?

It is good if someone can do some minor repairs or even major.

Sometimes it merely "buys time" and sometimes it is good as new.

@Punches yeah the switch might have cost 20 bucks but you're right about the service call - and I can't blame them - they have to make a living.

as it turned out I checked the continuity of the switch and realize somehow it had gotten stuck in the wrong position - and the machine was confused.

flip the retainer clip - put the front back on and hit the power button - and the prettiest little lights lit up

@tobynshorty it's nuts how much you can learn. I won't try my own brain surgery or resetting a bone - but I have learned so much on there.
