Do you think consider YouTube social media?

I do in a sense and don’t, however I realized that when I have watched it puts anxiety on me and makes me think of irrational things that I would have never thought of. Anywho I just deleted it for the thousandth time and am hoping to focus on reading again for my mental health.

There's no way YouTube isn't social media, unless one is trying to force distinctions where none exists

YouTube fulfills this

@Tracos that is true there are so many ads
YouTube is like the motherboard of a social platform. So yes, to answer your question YouTube is very much social media. It is the basis on how one is started in the social media world. Then came all the others after Myspace and Facebook then Twitter and Instagram and tiktok and all the others that followed. Now is it just social media is all it's form.
It technically is with content and comments. But I think most people rarely use the comments and that makes it one sided. Is that still social? Still half so.

It's -absolutely- social media by any definition. Your personal definitions may or may not include it but language is about words having common meanings right.

In a sense, it is social media, because you have subscribers who become regulars, and you interact with them; that interaction creates social media.

It is social media. A horrible place that drives people into a spiral of madness, like all social media,
I think youtube is one of those gray areas. Which are my faves.

Much of it is
Yes, it is definitely social media just by virtue of anyone being able to comment (when the poster enables comments on a post), and anyone being able to create a post as a video (with a text description)

And just as much misinformation gets spread on YouTube as does on exTwitter, Facebook, etc.
