I Love Youtubers

Sergio Ratza is a famous YouTube comedian that was particularly popular with Latino teens around five years ago. Personally, I was in love with this guy. He has an amazing ability to imitate real life situations, he was personable, funny, and charming. Someone who if you were feeling down and you watch his videos, you would laugh and feel alright again, even for that moment you were watching him.

Apparently he has been caught scamming people. People and fans state that he would sell something that was worth thousands for around $300 online, and then never ship the item. So basically he was just keeping all of this money to himself. Eventually people found out, victims made YouTube videos of their experience, his last video contains hate comments from people who trusted him, and now people say that he died from a car accident, was killed, or has overdosed.

What happened to him? Did he become addicted to gambling? Addicted to drugs? Was he hanging out with the wrong crowd? Did he have a sudden life-realization where he decided to act this way towards others? Something happened. This generally cool, funny, awesome guy can’t just go from A to Z all of a sudden out of nowhere, something had to happen to him. Of course what he is accused of doing is unethical, but I am also concerned for him. What happens to a person that makes them become a scammer?

Sergio,

I hope you are still alive. If what you are accused of didn’t happen find a way to prove your innocence. If it did happen, find a way to make retribution and give the money back, make things right again. And then, THEN go back to the amazing person that you originally are! I don’t know what happened to you, if someone took advantage of you and that anger made you take it out on everyone. I don’t know if the pressures of holding a job were too much for you and you didn’t want to do it anymore. I don’t know if you felt frustrated by having to constantly prove yourself to others to be wanted. But Sergio, regardless, you are human just like any one of us. We all suffer, we all struggle, and we want to help you back up. I know you might have acted in anger and thought, “No one cares if I am not convenient to them, I don’t care about anyone anymore!” But Sergio, would you care about someone who wasn’t convenient for YOU? You see man we are all in the same boat. We don’t hate you. We want to see you come out of this and come out stronger than before. We want to see you admit the humanity in all of us, and to push through because you have already been a role model and inspiration for many of us already. Your personality, your attitude, the comical way you portrayed to look at the world is something that connected us all as a community and made us look up to you.

And if you are not alive, may you Rest In Peace. We will remember you by the way you made us laugh, and we will know something happened to you, something to make you go in a questionable route. Sergio Ratza you are worthy, you are special, and you have so much in you! How I wish you could just get up and prove to yourself that this is so!

All the best to you, and may we look for solutions to patterns instead of negatively labeling others.

We will never forget you!
