A friend put me onto Proton Mail recently.
I’ve only been using it for a short while, but I’m impressed. If you care about privacy and a clean, email service, it’s worth a look.

It has worked great for me for years, and now you have a Proton AC you can use your details to login to the rest of the Proton suite of apps like Proton VPN, Calender, Pass, Authenticator, Drive, all free but limit rated and if you run out of space just make another account or change it to a paid AC service. Enjoy your increased privacy.

How many of us are truly that interesting to the NSA, et al.?
Very few.
Let's be realistic.
Very few of us really need the über-paranoid end-to-end-encryption blah blah blah apps or Tor.
Iincidentally, when you use the Proton VPN, your traffic is still recognized as using a VPN, so it can be blocked by sites who do not want traffic from VPN's — your browser can still be fingerprinted too.
But it's good marketing I guess.

Use a hardware VPN router instead of free VPN software. Go to the store and say this.
Ask for a VPN router that supports WireGuard and can run it in client mode, then ask whether it can handle any internet speed you throw at WireGuard , and whether it also supports OpenVPN as a backup. Follow up by asking how DNS is handled while the VPN is connected, whether there’s a kill switch / firewall behavior that prevents traffic from going out unencrypted if the VPN drops, and if the device gets regular firmware updates and supports reliable setup. If you need it for multiple devices, also ask about support for guest Wi‑Fi and whether it can manage different subnets and VLANs.
