. PHRASAL VERB
If you bring forward a meeting or event, you arrange for it to take place at an earlier date or time than had been planned.
He had to bring forward an 11 o'clock meeting so that he could get to the funeral on time. [VERB PARTICLE noun]
The election date had to be brought forward by two months. [VERB PARTICLE noun (not pronoun)]
2 pm 🤨 I thought forward with numbers mean bigger numbers 12 plus 2 is 14. Lol so confusing but I guess everyone else is right since we're not exactly talking about numbers we're talking about time itself.
@PiecingBabyFaceTogether But even with time: if that moves forwards, it's getting later.
@NerdyPotato I mean yea lol in art though when you bring a layer forward it moves closer to you.

It’s 2pm tho. How is it 10am?

@NerdyPotato I kinda wanna hear why they getting 10 am. Like, what is the reasoning
@TurtlePink me too... @OogieBoogie posted some explanation, but I still don't quite understand.
@TurtlePink @NerdyPotato its about whether you see time from the perspective of "now" or "then ".
If you see it from the 'now' perspective , you see the time is moved forward to the now , ie : 10 am .
If you see time from a then perspective, you see the time is moved forward from 'then' , ie 2pm .

Ok... this just sounds confusing 😂

Im sorry 😂

OK, all you people saying that forward means earlier, why do we move up when we spring forward?
Forward usually means earlier.
@JustGoneNow so forwards means back in time? 🧐
Please ask SIMPLE queries.
@sspec Got a headache yet??? 🤔
@HootyTheNightOwl No, gotten drowsy.
Forwards means earlier...
@TheSirfurryanimalWales That makes no sense...
But it’s true....if you bring something forwards it’s earlier.@NerdyPotato
@BlueVeins Explain this to me and Potato like we're 5 years old.

Is this one of those questions that shows whether you perceive time as something that moves , or as you moving through time ?

I always get confused with "this Tuesday" and "next tuesday".
@NerdyPotato i feel i read about this years ago: how we perceive time.
Gimme a sec , see if i can find what i mean ...

Ok , this is brilliant, put in a nutshell:[media=https://youtu.be/6Z2rsIwzjj4]
@NerdyPotato there was a study done to try and work out why people view time differently.
It had something to do with good and bad emotional experiences in childhood .
People who usually had good memories, saw themselves as moving thru time .
People who had bad ones generally saw themselves as time moving through them.

Not an offical truth , but an interesting study.
@OogieBoogie that's interesting indeed! Though with that explanation I would have thought I'd see time as moving through me.
You bring it forward so earlier

And push it back is later
@InOtterWords so back in time is bringing it forward and forwards in time is pushing it back? 🤔

@NerdyPotato In this context, "forward" is generally understood to be used in the sense of "ahead of". But yes, you do point out an inconsistency in the good ol' colloquial English language!
