In less than two hours' time, my Twitter suspension will be over. How should I express my freedom of speech when that time comes?

Depends why they banned you.

Americans have an interesting interpretation of “freedom of speech”.

Freedom of speech was designed so that you could speak out against whet you thought were the wrong doings of a government without fear of life threatening reprisals aka what is happening in Iran right now.
How ever some Americans seem to think that “freedom of speech” means you have the right to insult other people by their race, creed or beliefs without repercussions. News flash. That is not freedom of speech. THAT is hate speech. Hate speech has repercussions.
@justanothername I was literally banned for the following (transcribed, rather than screenshotted, as my tweet was deleted):

@JoJoFromJerz posted the question of what would happen were I to tell a dedicated Trump supporter and Tucker Carlson fan that Mr. Carlson hates Mr. Trump. My response was, "One hopes their head would explode."

I was suspended for advocating violence.

@CorvusBlackthorne that's petty
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
@justanothername If you have free speech then there is no hate speech.
@HoraceGreenley I think you for agreeing that my suspension was ridiculous. However, I do beg to differ on the subject of hate speech. One cannot simply shout or tweet racial slurs, for instance, without consequence.
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
@CorvusBlackthorne I never said there is no consequences.

@CorvusBlackthorne Interesting because you were actually expressing legitimate free speech. Obviously the admin is a flakey Republican.
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
@justanothername Obviously you don't understand the First Amendment
justanothername · 51-55, M
@HoraceGreenley The first amendment gives you the right to speak out against the government without fear of repercussions.
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
@justanothername Among other things. You are too narrowly focused
@HoraceGreenley The Supreme Court decided in the 1940s that certain offensive speech was not protected by the First Amendment.
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
@CorvusBlackthorne There are a few and very limited exceptions to first amendment which are not protected
justanothername · 51-55, M
@HoraceGreenley I’m all good with political free speech. You should be about to voice your disapproval of what a government is doing without fear of reprisal.
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
@CorvusBlackthorne
And these very limited exceptions are limited to public employees.

The use of "hate speech" today is too broadly applied and not addressed by any court ruling.
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
@justanothername Certainly that is the primary reason for free speech. My point is that free speech has broader applications as well.
justanothername · 51-55, M
@HoraceGreenley and that application would be?
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
@justanothername To everything and not just political speech. The restrictions on free speech are very narrow.
justanothername · 51-55, M
@HoraceGreenley There’s a treason for that. Republicans like yourself have a love affair with hate speech with no accountability.
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
@justanothername There is no such thing as hate speech. Conservatives are about freedom and accountability. I don't insult people based on immutable characteristics.

You're just lashing out because I exposed your ignorance.
justanothername · 51-55, M
@HoraceGreenley Republicans only do hate speech and baseless lies with no accountability. Speaking of accountability, Trump is about to experience accountability for the insurrection.
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M

@HoraceGreenley glad to see you prepared although you did forget the gas light.

@HoraceGreenley Not sure how that works. Obama is not from the plantation era. Was that supposed to be a racial slur?
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
@justanothername Apparently English is not your first language
