or perhaps the poster and our friends only?

Sometimes we just want to share our thoughts and positive vibes without the peanut gallery having a go at us.

Adding this as separate request-

In case Admins do create this option, I request that minors' accounts will not have access to the feature added to threads, because certain adults can use it to bypass already established PM restrictions.
