I Have a Suggestion for Similar Worlds

Dear Admin,
Here in SW many people share their stories, experiences and life. They put in a lot of effort. Often those stories go unnoticed if there is no recent comments or updates to it.
Would it be a bad idea to recognize those writings ... may be like, story of the month, question of the week etc? This will encourage people to be more creative and come up with even better writings. Just a small suggestion from my side. You may take it up if it is a reasonable request and everyone agrees with it.
Thank you :)

I remember EP doing that. I remember seeing some really interesting stories in my email. I used to look forward to that.

But I wonder how well that would be received by the majority of people on here. EP was a much bigger site, with a lot more people who posted lengthy stories that they put a lot of thought into, who also took an interest in others' stories. Sadly a lot of those people didn't trust that this was a legit site, or didn't join for any number of other reasons.

So I like your suggestion in theory. I'm just not sure how well most of the people on this site would respond to it. I hope that this site grows into something like what EP was, but if that happens, it's going to take some time, and possibly some of us reaching out to our EP friends and inviting them to join.

@TeresaRudolph71 You've mentioned all of the things that I loved about EP. The fact that we could indeed put a lot of thought into what we wrote about. And the fact that our efforts were reciprocated by those who commented.

SW seems to have gone down the route of quick gratification by compromising quality of content.

@room101 Yes, I'm afraid that seems to have happened. I would really like to get that back on here. I just don't know how to make that happen.

@TeresaRudolph71 I doubt that it's something that us lowly members can do. It has to be a feature that SW develops and implements.

Having said that, maybe if we members actively ignore the nonsense and only engage with posts which have substance. But then there's the problem of posts vanishing before we even get to see them.

@TeresaRudolph71 Thank you. Yes, I believe it will make this site a lot more interesting. People will be motivated to write.
That's sad. I don't understand why people will have a problem with that. If they don't like lengthy stories they can simply ignore. And if their concern is being the stories selected as best ones, they can try better ones too.
I'm not sure if any change has been implemented after the suggestion in this group.

@room101 That's a valid point. We can ignore meaningless posts however as you mentioned good posts may vanish before interested users even see them. I see only latest posts in the home page. If top posts can be highlighted writers will get value for what they wrote and at the same time interested users get access to real contents.

@Neena I really hope that SW admin are listening. It would make this site so much better.

@room101 I too hope so :)
