I Have a Suggestion for Similar Worlds

You can search for an appropriate group and open it. Then you can enter a message at the top. If you add a poll, it will show up under questions, otherwise under stories, and always on the homepage.

Private messaging is still being developed. Currently you can only post stories and reply to them.

Thank you, but how do I initiate a new story thread instead of just using the existing ones?

i do not think I am explaining myself at all well here, how do you start a group? I think thats what I need to know.
