"My Warning is unfair! Admins suck!" 🤔🙄

We see several scenarios where...

1) A user intentionally breaks our Terms of Service, causing significant trouble like posting inappropriate contents or offending everyone

2) Admins become aware (through Reports to us), remove the inappropriate contents, and put Warning + Restrictions on the user account

3) The user creates a public post playing the victim and trying to turn other users against the admins

4) And in some cases, the user also contacts us, pretending they don't understand why they've been warned/penalized

This is something we keep seeing happening often, and we wonder what is the goal when someone does this...

There are two ways the user can handle this:

1) Admit the mistake and quit doing the same in the future (and optionally contact the admins to apologize and likely we'll listen to them and reduce/remove the penalty in some cases)

2) Perpetuate the problem, pretend to be the victim and complain about the admins

Please be sure that when you go with option (2), all you're doing is make the admins SURE that their Action/Decision was deserved, and we won't be accepting any apology/appeal. And very likely, we won't "forgive" any future offenses/conflicts, as your account (and any alternative accounts you might create) will be flagged.

As most of you know already, we try to give users as much Freedom as possible, and many mild/once-off offenses are "ignored"/forgiven by us, depending on the impact caused, by us simply sending a Notification to the user, or by keeping the report logged for future reference when dealing with that user again.

However, if someone receives a Warning on their profile, and account Restrictions for it (and in most cases, associated Notifications with details about what those exact offenses were), most likely it was NOT an "unfair" and "automated" action by the system -- with most certainty, it was after days/weeks/months of Reports accumulated by many different users and a member of the staff analyzed and decided that these actions were necessary.

If you want to do something to help, to help positive interactions, and maybe even increase VIP sales…..let VIP see who’s downvoting. We can block them at that point and eliminate hate from our profiles. The downvote was the most insulting, idiotic and disrespectful thing y’all ever did. Make it right.

@JesseInTX I tend to agree with this...to a degree.

I think it should be removed altogether.

I initially thought the same...why not let us see who is down voting .

But not everyone would use that information the same way .
Those that down vote could be targeted, their votes disclosed openly by VIP members , or spread privately in PM'S.

I don't think it should be allowed at all.

Why not have a tab that just allows you to stop seeing more or that post, or that users content, but it doesnt show up on their post.

Why visibly show negativity more ?

I mean ...I get a twinge of anger each time I see one .

I think it's cowardly.
Keepitsimple · 51-55, F
@JesseInTX it’s sneaky shit I think. It should work both ways or remove it.
@OogieBoogie We have the option of muting users. When you mute someone, their posts don’t show up on your feed.
JesseInTX · 51-55, M
@OogieBoogie it’s the dumbest, most idiotic thing the admin has done here. People could do the same thing by reporting a post. Basically all this is it gives the admin a way to be lazy. Look at downvotes, not have to look at reports. It’s stupid and lets cowards be cowardly.
JesseInTX · 51-55, M
@Keepitsimple @Pinkstarburst
Let the cowards be shown who they for who they are at least for the paying members
Keepitsimple · 51-55, F
@JesseInTX I think knowing who it is helps to tighten up your own circle just like the mute and block and friends allow us to. Most people use it out of spite.
@JesseInTX I agree. The downvote option should be removed completely. There is a mute and block option. If you don’t like what you read than turn the page or tear it out completely.

@Pinkstarburst yeah...I know .

Hence why i got so confused with the need for this function.

I wonder if its a feature that other sites have, so admins adopted it to encourage new user numbers.

I still feel it's a cop out, cowardly, and that SW should stand on its own unique design and format.

We don't need it .

I used to be kinda proud that SW was about the only site that didn't have it.

And we did fine without it.
@OogieBoogie I agree 100%

@JesseInTX I think VIP members, when they block someone, blocks all accounts associated with that member. As it sits, if you block some nasty person, you then have to deal with their alts. I also believe VIP members should have the ability to bulk delete pics stored from our profiles, messages that get archived, and posts. After a few years, those things pile up and with the painfully slow , one at a time deletion process, they stay piled up

@JesseInTX i think it's the fact that they've made it shown is the most depressing and 'anger inciting' aspect.

There is absolutely no need to make it shown....except to pander to those who love to use it .

You cant see when a post is flagged...
You can't see when someone mutes or blocks someone else...
So why make us see this ?

Its just a negativity generator by being visible.

I mean ...I don't know if this is completely true ...but I can't see the number of downvotes on YouTube videos anymore .

And I think its a good thing.
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
@JesseInTX agreed. It needs to go altogether.
