Proper Message Etiquette

So this is a topic I haven’t seen discussed. I’m a straight guy that will respond to any message received from a woman. But what is right way to respond to a guy? Yesterday I just told someone “I really don’t chat with guys”. I wasn’t trying to be mean and I have no idea what his intentions were. So curious and want to do better if I did wrong.

I'll quite happily chat to anyone that pops in my inbox. Give them the benefit of the doubt. If the chat goes in a direction I'm not comfortably with I'll politely tell them.

If you only want to DM with women, you can say that in your "about me" thus discouraging the contact.

@laotzu92 it rarely happens that I get a guy messaging out of the blue like that. I was just curious about it. I didn’t mean to offend him. Thanks for the feedback.
