How long should I keep a conversation in my messages. You know the kind where you sent back and forth several times a day for several days and then your reply is left unanswered. I used to think that no reply in a month was long enough to archive the conversation but I am beginning to think that I should file them sooner. But the other day someone contacted me from two years ago and wondered why I didn't recognize him.

I just was wondering how long others keep conversations that abruptly quit. Sometimes it makes you want to take your stuff down and forget about it.

Well the way I look at it, they're not hurting anything one way are the other if they're just sitting there. That way just let him be there and you don't have to go one way or the other unless they just bug you being there. I don't think there's any set rule. Depends on if you still want to communicate with this person or not. If not then I would get rid of the messages and just not answer again.

I get messages i dont reply to at all. But i dont know that it matters. I archive the ones i have no intentions of answering. But sometimes they block me before i read them.

Depends on the conversation and the person. For most a couple days. For some I never delete.

I keep everything. Even text messages on my phone I never delete.
Lostlostlost · 56-60, M
I rarely get any, so it doesn’t matter!

There are times I am so busy with work, I hardly have time to respond back to messages. I usually reply to messages during my down time at work.

Personally, I only keep them a day or 2, depending on the conversation.

I don't both archiving them unless they have told me they wont be back. I doesn't hurt anything to leave them alone. Sometimes I'll go through old messages and if they account doesn't exist anymore I'll archive it. Sometime though I find someone I haven't heard from in a long time and I reach out just to see how they are and I get a response.

I don't see the point in deleting things. What's the advantage?

If the person is really important to me, I tend to leave them for one or two weeks while waiting for a reply. And for very important people I also take screenshots and save them as .pdf, so I won't lose them if I decide to delete my account out of a bipolar/paranoid relapse.
