Good grief!! You can live your life completely Facebook free. The choice is yours. The fact that you know anything you're saying about Facebook suggests that you go there. Why? Have you asked yourself that one??
When someone mentions something about or on Facebook, you should be able to say "I wouldn't know because I don't use Facebook". I know a number of people who tell me this. You can be one of those if you wanted to.

@BohemianBoo So what?! In all these years, I can't think of one fake facebook post that has affected my life in any way or the lives of the people I know.
If somehow your personal life has been affected, facebook didn't do it, a person or people did. You have to address the real culprit(s).
