There was this strange man on Facebook and his daughter that offered to give me my own online boutique and said I wouldn't have to pay them anything

in return. I told him the whole thing seemed like a scam and he got upset and said how dare you call me a scammer and he and his daughter blocked me. They were scammers, right?

Most likely, yes. If you don't really want to tip your hand, you could just say that you aren't interested and let it go at that. You do NOT owe them an explanation- they started the conversation, not you. It sounds as though they may be part of a multi-level marketing (MLM) plan. For each person they add to their "downline", they get a share of the sales that YOU make. Then you would be supposed to add a downline of your own salespeople, and you would get a share of their earnings, and they would also get a share of their earnings, via you. Simple! :- ).
