why does facebook do this

send me friend suggestions of people i don't know and are not interested in knowing, ive had about 11 of them sent to my iphone today as a notification, people i don't want to know sent as a friend suggestion...is there a way to stop it?

The best way to stop it is get off that POS site.

Did you know it's actually a violation to send a friend request to someone we don't personally know? Yet I see some people with 5,000 Fb friends. Very unlikely someone actually knows that many people.

Long ago if someone sent a friend request, we had to answer if we personally know them or not. After 17 years of nonsense, I finally deleted my accounts and walked away.

The reality is that we really have little privacy online. It is not just Facebook, but just about everything you join today is trying to connect the dots in your life, to figure out who your friends are and what you may be inclined to join or purchase. And all of this data is bartered and sold between companies and organizations. The days of the anonymous Internet ended years ago, if it ever existed in the first place.
