Volunteer introductions?

Something I loved about Experience Project was the ability to welcome new members to the site and act like guides for them. It allowed people to interact right off the bat, got rid of any nervousness, helped gently break any illusions, and above all else helped new people on the site see how everything worked, as well as letting them talk to someone experienced about things they may need help with, like 'how to leave a comment' or something.
I think this feature should be added back into Similar Worlds, with a similar design in that there's a long waiting list to weed-out any of the uncommitted ones who put their names down for a laugh. I see new faces on this site every day, it'd be good to interact with them more and make this more of an open, social system. What do you think?

I'd absolutely be in favour of this. I took on this kind of role on another site (not EP), and I think being welcomed by a friendly face made an impact most on those people who would go on to become friendly, constructive users themselves.

@GlassDog: Exactly my point. If you get on a site and get nothing, then it's demoralising, a tad at least. If you get a personal 'hey there, how you doin'?', it can paint a more positive picture of the site and encourage them to help out more

@twofacetoo: Funnily enough, my first experience of EP was a bad one and I wasn't at all encouraged to stick around, so I didn't. It was three years before I gave it another go.

@GlassDog: See my point? If your first experience was bad, or just kinda empty, it can leave you feeling less interested.

you mean love bomb them like a cult would do? Yeah. I can see that in indoctrinating them into worshiping this place. 🤔

@twofacetoo: I can never leave. No one leaves SW once they come... We are here forever as one family. 😐

@badazzbasicbich: You make it sound like 'The Prisoner'... Number Two.
SW-User
@twofacetoo: well... 😏
