I was too late…

I was on EP right before the site went dead; I had made strong connections with a few people, people whom I considered friends. I knew the site was closing down and I planned on sharing my contact info with these select few, but by the time I got around to doing it (I occasionally procrastinate) it was too late. I know it’s been several years and life goes on but it still saddens me from time to time that I lost touch with them. Perhaps someday they’ll join this site and remember me. If not, I wish them well, and all other former EPers. I’m glad to know that many of you are now here.

I was on EP towards the end. I got to keep in touch with some people I met there after it shut down. I even met one in person. Unfortunately, I lost contact with all of them due to life happening.

@CalmPassions I became so upset when they shut down and I still miss it. I was on there every day for years. I still don't know what happened to it.
Freeranger · M
There are a few Soda Head survivors here, like myself, who'll tell you that, one bright shiny morning, we all went to log on to the website and our own friend of many seasons only to find that the website had shut down with no warning. Nada, nyet.
As you describe yourself, it was crushing as it was sudden, intended by the owners of the site, and left the whole of us wandering around like a bomb had gone off in our midst. I lost SO many good friends in that one moment and to this day, I still can't wrap my head around how the ownership of Soda Head could do that to thousands of us with no prior warning.

What can I say?

Even if you meet them again, they may not be the same people you remember. A lot could have changed.
AlwaysAlexis · 51-55, F
@SW-User true; we all evolve and change to a certain extent, some people more than others. But I’d like to think that they’re still the same at the core of their being. That rarely changes even when life circumstances do.

@AlwaysAlexis Agree, although from my experience when people don't talk for years, there is very little to keep them connected after. It's rare when it happens.

Same, I lost many Ep friends

I wish for you the best of luck. I too am searching for friends from the original EP. I am trying to find a way to upload all the data from EP to this site so that maybe I will be able make contact. Anyway good luck.
AbbyNormal · 51-55, F
@GAV1968 Thank you so much. I was so involved in that place and I still miss it. Did you ever come across Chipmunk Ernie? He gave me some good advice over the years. I don't understand why they just dropped off the cliff. If I could do it I would like to start it again. I think that a lot of teenagers started getting on it and asking stupid questions. I have heard so many theories. I would have paid a fee if they wanted it. Maybe they should have advertised like stupid FB.
boudinMan · 61-69, M
yeah, i knew a few people from EP as well and lost touch with them when it shut down. like many others, i came here, but it isn't quite the same, is it?
AlwaysAlexis · 51-55, F
@boudinMan I’m still navigating this site as a newbie so it’s hard to say…I’m trying to stay optimistic
boudinMan · 61-69, M
@AlwaysAlexis gotcha... it just takes a little getting used to.

EP was a nice place ... the difference is there were many more stories and experiences...and people liked to write in those days including myself... this site doesn't not have that culture of writing experiences
TexChik · F
I don’t think any of my old EP friends are still around . What was your profile name there?
AlwaysAlexis · 51-55, F
@TexChik if it ain’t broke…. 😊
AbbyNormal · 51-55, F
@TexChik Abby Normal
AbbyNormal · 51-55, F
Same as here. Haha
PassingThrough · 46-50, M
I was on EP until it shut down too. I don’t remember much of the people from there anymore since it’s been a while though one or two still were memorable
AlwaysAlexis · 51-55, F
@PassingThrough I honestly didn’t chat with too many people on a regular basis, but I did chat almost daily with a few. One in particular was a close confidant. That’s hard to find….
PassingThrough · 46-50, M
@AlwaysAlexis ahhhh yeah needle in a haystack. I know that feeling
WindTherapy · 56-60, M
I too miss some folks from there. But sometimes people leave your life in a similar manner to how they came into it. But the memories can last forever.
AlwaysAlexis · 51-55, F
@WindTherapy ah truth.
ChiefJustWalks · 26-30
There's still a few that I miss from there 🥺 but I can safely say that my more meaningful connections came from here 😌
AlwaysAlexis · 51-55, F
@ChiefJustWalks well that’s good to hear!
eyeno · M
Ya ...,, some I still contact but like you some I neglected to give my info.😔
AlwaysAlexis · 51-55, F
@eyeno hopefully you’ll reconnect with them somehow…
eyeno · M

@DeWayfarer thank you!
Lol... I have no contact with anyone that I gave my details to... 🤷‍♀️
AlwaysAlexis · 51-55, F
@HootyTheNightOwl really? That’s too bad, I’m sorry to hear that!
@AlwaysAlexis It's okay... I guess that the trash ultimately took itself out - even if it did cause me a lot of pain at the time.

It was hard to watch what happened at the time, but, if that and the events that came afterwards hadn't happened... then I wouldn't be where I am in life today - so it all ultimately worked out for the best.
Rokasu · 36-40, M
Dang all I remember from EP was making hella mistakes.
