I Want to Improve the Experience Project
Paid Member Benifits... A while ago it was written about improving things on EP for paid members... EP Arsinah had mentioned for me to mention a few ideas that I have for the site for paid members since I was paid at one point and feel that a general lack of bang for the buck is there.
So with some careful thought and some general discussion with a few people about a few items I think I have come up with a list of things that can be at least considered if not used.
Ads - Okay yes I know that is one source of income for EP. However if you are a "paid" member then you should not see ANY ads, that is why you pay. If you still having ads as a paid member and the amount is just reduced you still have the video ads that slow your connection down cause it is loading or playing every time your page is refreshed and the volume thing needs to go regardless. Also with the missing ads now that paid members get greater screen real estate. Which should be configurable.
Chat - Have heard several people say that EP needs a chat. Last time I checked on EP's chat feature they wanted money for it, why pay money for it when other things like Yahoo IM, Google Talk, ICQ and Skype are free? In that neat little space that is cleared by having no ads a chat feature could be there and have it be just an extension of the PM.
Greeting cards - There are paid members on here now that when they go to send a greeting card to their circle they can only do 40 ( I think ) at a time. Non-paid can do 20. Why not have a feature similar to the gestures where you click one button and sends a card to everyone in your circle, OR have the ability to just click on a check box in the list of friends that you have on the right, plus be able to have the WHOLE list would be a real plus.
* On the subject of greeting cards for everyone the sequence is not very friendly, most click on the card and not select their friends first but if you do it out of sequence then you have to start over. If you select the card first then you can add the friends after, not being able to add your friends after is very frustrating when making your own card, cause then you have to start all over again.
Gestures - How about having animation for the gestures... The few extra gestures that you get as paid also needs to be increased and have a wider selection of gestures.
Also cause the person is a paid member they should be able to organize their profile how it works best for them, you have the header and the items down the left side but as for where they can put the "new for you", video, friends feed, groups feed, experiences that should be up to them. PLUS if they are paid and have no ads on their page that SHOULD translate to someone else's page. Example is if I look at Fungirlmmm's page and she has a video on her profile on the right where the ads are at then I should see it like that and not in the middle third block down or something cause I am not a paid member. I should see the paid members profile just like the paid member sees it. Non-paid members can see theirs like the current version.
Profile AVI. Paid members should be able to have a larger profile avi than non-paid members. Lets say 250x250 instead of 150x150. The larger avi should be seen by anyone who visits the profile of a paid member.
