I Am Always Sad When An EP Friend Leaves

And it's always hard when it happens with no explanation, or even a goodbye. Not that he owed me anything, he didn't. Apparently, my newest EP friend, JakeV101, decided to delete his account yesterday. He had just added me a couple of days before, and after viewing his stories I thought he seemed like a really sweet guy. We chatted a little bit yesterday morning, and it was nice. Then, after a busy day, I finally got the chance to check and see what my friends on EP had been up to while I had been away. And where Jake's name had been in my private messages, it said "deleted."

There was nothing in any of his stories that anyone could possibly have found offensive. So there was no reason for anyone to have reported him. I can only conclude that he must have been very unhappy here on EP and decided that it just wasn't worth his time. When I looked at the last couple of stories that he had posted, I saw that he hadn't received any supportive or helpful responses. In fact, someone misconstrued something that he had said and told him that he was being rude when he wasn't being rude at all. I was sorry that I wasn't there to give him a more supportive response.

I wish that people would read people's posts a little more carefully and, if there's something that they don't understand, ask questions first before jumping to negative conclusions about people.

Goodbye, JakeV101. I'm sorry that we didn't have more time to get to know each other. I'm sure that we would have been good friends. And I'm sorry that someone responded so thoughtlessly to your story, and that you didn't get more kind, helpful responses.

I'll miss you, even though I didn't know you very well.

My wife has a account on here. Her user name is RhodeIslandLady. She writes a lot of Christian posts. Even though she posts on the Christian experiences people would attack her big time and guys would send her pervy pictures. Although she didn't delete her account she rarely comes on anymore. I have had a lot of friends delete their accounts . It always hurts when another one leaves. I don't know why, but EP seems to let the bad people post at will. The first social site I was ever on did that. I asked why and the emailed me back saying the drama these people caused was good for the site. They said it kept it interesting. Sadly they were wrong and six months later the site was dead and everyone gone. I hope that doesn't happen to EP too.

Wow, that is sad. It's too bad that the people running that site didn't realize that drama wasn't good for that site. I'm actually surprised that they told you that, because they were basically admitting that that was what they wanted on their site. And I also hope that the same thing doesn't happen to EP. For now, there seem to be more genuine, decent people here than trolls. But you never know what might happen.

No you don't. The other site is Blurtit.com you can go take a look if you want. They have users, but no one is ever on. Basically you answer a question and it sends an email to the person and you have to wait for them to log on to answer you. Sadly so many good people have left EP over the last year while bad people are allowed to post at will. One guy came on about six months ago and posted how he thought pedophileism should be taught in school as an alternative lifestyle. EP never pulled the question or banned him. The guy actually stayed on a few hours and calmly defended his position. People like this should be banned from the internet.

I just took a look at the site and also read a little bit about it in Wikipedia. The Wikipedia article said the site used to have a lot more questions than it has now and that many of the questions have been deleted. Also, it said that they eliminated the other types of posts that weren't questions (such as experiences that people had posted about). So they've really whittled things down a lot.

I agree, that post about how the guy thought that pedophilism was a legitimate lifestyle should have been deleted as soon as it was reported, and if he had persisted in posting about that, he should have been banned. It makes me wonder where EP's priorities are. Hopefully we won't see too many more people like that on here (though one is too many).
