Chat logs of Kirk shooter

Robinson was formally charged yesterday. The charging documents contain the following chat log between him and his roommate.

Robinson: I am still ok my love, but am stuck in orem for a little while longer yet. Shouldn't be long until I can come home, but I gotta grab my rifle still. To be honest I had hoped to keep this secret till I died of old age. I am sorry to involve you.

Roommate: you weren't the one who did it right????

Robinson: I am, I'm sorry

Roommate: I thought they caught the person?

Robinson: no, they grabbed some crazy old dude, then interrogated someone in similar clothing. I had planned to grab my rifle from my drop point shortly after, but most of that side of town got locked down. Its quiet, almost enough to get out, but theres one vehicle lingering.

Roommate: Why?

Robinson: Why did I do it?

Roommate: Yeah

Robinson: I had enough of his hatred. Some hate can't be negotiated out. If I am able to grab my rifle unseen, I will have left no evidence. Going to attempt to retrieve it again, hopefully they have moved on. I haven't seen anything about them finding it.

Naturally, people are a bit skeptical. What 22 year old talks like he's a pioneer on the Oregon Trail in 1845? "How often I think of you, my brother Ernest, toiling in the wheat fields back home in Nebraska. Shall I again ever thump you on the back as a token of our mutual cameraderie?" I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but I find it hard to believe that Robinson wrote the above.

Ken Klipperstein of the Washington Post managed to get ahold of Robinson's Discord chats, which at least sound authentic.

Anyone who says having a trans roommate automatically means the person is a liberal, should be reminded that Caitlin Jenner, probably the most famous trans person in America, is a Trump-worshipping conservative.

I don't know why everyone wants to rush to put Kirk's shooter into one column or the other, because it ultimately doesn't matter if he turns out to actually be a left winger or not (and right now, it's still too soon to confidently put him in any camp other than people steeped in Internet memes, regardless of what his parents are).

If he does truly turn out to be a lefty, he will still be an outlier which will not change decades of history, statistics, and fact that most violence, whether mass shootings, political violence, or domestic terrorism in modern US history have and continue to come from the right wing, no matter how much gaslighting MAGA tries to throw at this reality.

In the meantime, in our rush to classify this guy, we're getting conspiratorial nonsense like the groyper tangent (your browser's "reader view" functionality can overcome the soft paywall here):

But cooler-headed extremism experts acknowledge it's still too soon to tell what this guy really is:

Maybe he even might genuinely be one of those magical, mythical unicorns that somehow live (or think / crow that they live) outside the left-right spectrum, some libertarian, some radical centrist, some «independent» who does nothing more than vacillate between left and right every election cycle, or some supposed «apolitical» wanker too good to vote but who no doubt still has opinions on life which are *gasp* political when you boil them down (because no one can escape politics, it's a fact of life, whether you actively participate or not and then moan later).

What's more important than which column he is in is what MAGA is trying to use it as a pretext for (e.g., free speech is currently being killed by the people who've been whining about being cancelled for the past decade and call themselves «free speech absolutists» ... as long as it's not free speech for anyone outside the MAGA cult, or the Zionist cult for that matter).

Meanwhile, Kash Patel doesn't even know who Dylan Roof is!!!!!
(I'd say this is Patel's «What is Aleppo?» moment ... how the hell is someone so unqualified in charge of the FBI? Oh wait, qualifications were never a requirement to be in Trump's cabinet 🤦🏻‍♂)

(hint: he killed eight more people that the guy in Utah, and one of my library branches is now named for one of his victims)

@BlueGreenGrey Exactly.
@BlueGreenGrey It's all about guilt by association. The administration is desperate to paint this guy as a left wing terrorist. Trump just declared antifa as a domestic terrorist group, which does nothing except get his base excited.
