What I have said as advice is "Here are the mistakes I've made in my life, when you get to X point, when you get to Y point in your life, you will look back on this advice" But I'm realizing that my life experiences are going to be different from their life experiences. I just don't want to see them make some of the same mistakes I did. If I could go back in time and tell myself things to not do stupid stuff or to avoid situations, I would totally do it.
The other problem with giving advice is, until they've experienced it for themselves, giving advice doesn't do much.
It's like the great teacher is making mistakes. Like at my job, you do something wrong one time, you learn quickly not to do that again. Just like yesterday I made a mistake at work, because I wasn't doing the process properly. But it happens and it's not a big deal, with my work things can be fixed/replaced.
