A few baseball players during the 2004 World Series in St. Louis--Gabe Kapler, Bill Mueller. I shared a couple of beers with hockey HOFer Cam Neely at a sports bar during that series. I met Reverend Al Sharpton on a flight from Buffalo to Atlanta. I met Charles Barkley at a hotel when he was talking to the concierge. I knew tv commentator Bill Macatee in high school.

@windinhishair Rev. Sharpton comes to work at a church over in Oakland periodically, generally programs for young people that he’s helped establish. In person he’s surprisingly low key and humble. I remember on EP people complaining that he "caused trouble” but "wasn’t helpful”. They had no idea how much he helps people, often quietly, without media coverage.

@bijouxbroussard Lots of (mostly younger) people were going up to him for selfies. I waited until he boarded and sat down and went up to him, shook his hand and thanked him for all of the positive things he had done for others. He was appreciative.
