They were popular during the big AOL days. I remember hanging out in chats but I didn't really chat much. Forums were pretty popular too.
IrishFellaShaney · 41-45, M
@Flowerz They still exist. A lot of web based chat rooms, but full of creeps. There's still some chat programs that can be downloaded too,
YMITheWayIM · 46-50, M
I used to. TBH, I was missing Yahoo messenger and chatrooms so much that I accidentally discovered EP. Then everything changed for good.
Jessmari · 41-45
I used to, but honestly don't miss the buggy clients or the script kiddies.
IrishFellaShaney · 41-45, M
@Jessmari I've tried some from time to time, they are awful, full of fake accounts bots, and creeps
Salinanana · 22-25, F

Starcrossed · 41-45, F
Do they even exist anymore?
IrishFellaShaney · 41-45, M
@Starcrossed yep, lots of them, but they are mostly a load of rubbish
uncalled4 · 56-60, M
It was fun.....20 years ago. Geez, I was on AIM, Yahoo, MSN, and a few others. I think I tried ICQ, but no one I knew was there.

@IrishFellaShaney Yahoo shut down. I think once people started texting and group texting/messaging, it was done. Smartphones probably were the first big nail.
IrishFellaShaney · 41-45, M
@uncalled4 Yeah Yahoo chat was a popular one. There's still ones like Paltalk that exist. But generally chat rooms are pretty much rubbish nowadays
uncalled4 · 56-60, M
@IrishFellaShaney I wasn't really on any sites like this while I was on the chat sites. SW can be a time vampire.
basilfawlty89 · 31-35, M
I use Discord. It's like irc on steroids.
CharlesRomsey · 61-69, M
@basilfawlty89 Going to try it - sounds fun!
basilfawlty89 · 31-35, M
